Gotta question them all

Frequently Asked Questions

Adults

What ages do our adult classes cater for?

All ages 16+ are welcome at our classes! We have adults well into their 50's train with us every week, so don't let age be a barrier.

Can I just come and do my own thing?

Absolutely! All programming in our classes is optional, dependent on whether you're interested in structured training or not. If you have your own goals and just need occasional advice or help, the gym is all yours to use as you please.

Do I need to book, or can I just rock up?

All payment is processed through our booking system so you MUST book ahead of time. You are unable to book into a class once it has started, so it's imperative that you book prior.

Should I come to Party Tricks or Artistic Gymnastics?

You can come to any class you like, Party Tricks is just generally more approachable if you're a beginner. The class is shorter and the skills we work on are more beginner friendly. You are absolutely welcome to come try Artistic Gymnastics if you think it's for you though.

How many people come to class?

While it varies every week you can usually expect to see 6+ friendly faces in class. Classes are capped at 16 people so make sure you book to reserve yourself a spot.

I've never done gymnastics before, is class going to be too hard for me?

No gymnastics experience is necessary, but a base level of fitness and strength is highly recommended. We would also highly recommend a basic handstand. You don't have to be able to hold it or do anything fancy, but there is lots of kicking upside down in class, so it does well to be prepared!

I've done gymnastics before, is class going to be too easy for me?

We always work on level-appropriate, individual skills at each apparatus, so unless you're at the Olympic level Nick will have a new skill for you to be working towards!

I have kids, can I bring them?

While this is primarily a class for adults, we are happy to allow children under 16 in some select circumstances, particularly if it would otherwise stop you from coming to training. Please send us an email here and we can work something out.

Are there any insurance costs or waivers I need to sign?

All gymnasts are covered for free for their first two classes so you can try out our classes with no additional costs or commitments.

Beyond this there is a waiver and a $60 fee to be registered as an athlete with Gymnastics Australia. This covers you for all activities that we undertake in the gym and lasts the entire calendar year. It also doubles as your athlete registration for competition if that's something you are interested in.

Is there parking?

Yes, we have a giant free carpark right out front of the Gymnastics Centre.

I booked a class but I can't make it anymore, do you do refunds?

Yes, refunds are available right up until one hour before class starts if you need to cancel your booking.

I booked a class but I didn't turn up, do you do refunds?

We can only process refunds for absent bookings in select or emergency circumstances, so please aim to cancel your booking ASAP if your plans change and you can't make it.

If you need to process a refund for a class you didn't make just email us here.

Kids

Why should my daughter train here instead of just doing acro at her dance school?

Training in a fully equipped gymnastics facility gives us access to amazing training aids and equipment like foam pits, trampolines, crash mats, air tracks, sprung floors and more. The softer and graduated surfaces help remove the fear barriers for new skills, promoting both safety and efficiency.

We only field 16 spots every weekend to make sure there are never more than 4 dancers to a coach. This way we can ensure every skill level is adequately looked after, from complete beginners all the way to advanced athletes.

What skills do you cover?

We can coach any skills that dancers require! That being said, we have a main focus on the following skills, grouped by difficulty.

Entry level skills: headstands, handstands, walkovers, cartwheels and basic ground flows.

Intermediate skills: aerial, front aerial, back handspring and cartwheel back handspring.

Advanced skills: back tucks, layout step-outs, 540 kicks, butterfly twists, tinsicas and more!

Do I have to sign up for a term?

No, all acro classes are pay-per-attendance as weekends can be busy times for families and we respect that kids can't make it every week. This also allows girls to just drop in for a few weeks and clean up some skills without having to commit to full terms.

Are there any insurance costs or waivers?

Insurance through Gymnastics Australia costs $60 per calendar year, and while I'd highly recommend it, it's not mandatory if you feel you already have adequate insurance cover.

Regardless, a waiver will need to be signed by a parent on the child's first attendance.

Can boys come?

While the class is generally very girl-dominated boys are very welcome if they'd like to come!
